At the gateway to the Eastern Sea, to the east of Hyrule Bay, the mountainous Dragon Roost Island rises from the water. Visible from quite a distance, this massive dormant volcano is home to the Rito tribe, a strong culture of avian, winged people which mostly keep their distance from the rest of Hyrule. Dragon Roost Island has been in the Eastern Sea for as long as history tells, and atop the massive peak rests the fabled dragon named Valoo. As a rite of passage, the Rito climb to Valoo’s roost at the summit of the mountain where they perform a ritual to gain flight.
