Perhaps the strangest place currently known to Hyruleans, Koholint Island lies towards the southern reaches of the Eastern Sea. In the space of the island rests a forest, swamp, two large villages, and even a small mountain range. To explorers’ surprise, a large spotted egg can be seen on the tallest peak of Koholint Island, which the inhabitants revere as a deity of sorts. On the western half of the island is Mabe Village, a settlement filled with Hylians that seems oddly normal despite the fact that they seem to fear, or worship, a massive egg. To the east, however, is Animal Village, an impossible phenomenon of a settlement that is filled to the brim with talking, civilized animals. Few of these inhabitants leave Koholint, but every once and a while a talking animal or an odd Hylian makes the journey to the Hyrulean mainland.
