The mere existence of the Twilight Realm is unknown to most inhabitants of Hyrule. As such, it is one of few canonical locations in which player-characters are not normally able to access.

The realm is seemingly entirely separate dimension from Hyrule, traveling to which is virtually impossible without some form of magic. Every recorded instance of travel from the realm to Hyrule has been one-way, and seemingly irreversible. The only known beings to hail from that land are the rare and esoteric race of humanoids known as Twili, most of whom traveled to Hyrule unintentionally and never even knew of its existence prior.

According to the tales of the Twili, it is a realm of perpetual twilight that knows no day or night. The Twili are the most common race there, much like Hylians are in Hyrule. Because of this, their world has been shaped with towering black marble buildings, and even the very air is interwoven with magic. Indeed, it seems magic in that world is even more common than it is in Hyrule.
