A False Quill, or False Pen, appears as a small quill with a jet-black tip. It is designed to be held as a writing utensil. When gripped tightly and in a specific manner, it is capable of producing an invisible ink. Normally, this ink appears only to the holder of the False Quill that wrote it, or anyone with a Lens of Truth. If the user writes a legible name in invisible ink as part of a message, anyone with that name is able to see that message normally.

The False Quill can also function as a regular writing instrument, and will in fact do so for anyone who doesn't know how to activate it.

Trivia

  • False Quill is remarkably similar to Drift Quill. Whereas False Quill writes messages that are difficult to be seen, Drift Quill writes highly visible messages.
  • The False Quill treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Guy.
