A Chill Seed appears as a small fruit, which is light-blue in color, and somewhat cubical in shape. This single seed is pure and potent, and as such can be useful as a material to be used by a Botanist. By contrast, a Chill Seed Supply is a collection of less pure seeds which retain the same practical use, but cannot be grown and cultivated by a Botanist. Using just four of these potent seeds, a skilled Botanist can cultivate a Chill Seed Supply.

When one Chill Seed is struck against a hard surface, it bursts apart, releasing a momentary flash of extremely cold temperature that freezes or damages anything it touches. These seeds work effectively as a means of freezing water or as slingshot ammunition.

When used by a Botanist, these seeds are useful for creating an effect related to the Ice field.

Seed Effects

By using three Chill Seeds, along with at least three other seeds, a Botanist is able to create a Seed Supply with one of the following effects. These effects will combine with the effects of other seed types used as materials.

Effect Name Description of Effect
Chill The normal effect of Chill Seeds occurs.
Ice Punch After one seed is eaten, the next physical contact the eater makes will cause a freezing impact. Extreme cold will sprout up on the impacted after a punch, kick, headbutt, or step, equivalent to a a blast of liquid nitrogen. Indirect hits, such as from a sword or projectile, are unaffected.
Freezing Step After one seed is eaten, the eater's footsteps will freeze whatever they touch for so long as the eater continues to walk or run.
Cool As long as one seed is held in the user's palm, they will feel a pleasant coolness throughout their body. This enables the user to survive harshly hot environments, and effectively negates any weakness to heat the user may have. It does not, however, prevent the user from catch flame.
Delay This effect can only be combined with another effect that triggers on impact or after consumption. Instead of the seed's effect triggering immediately, the user of the seed can will it to delay and activate later, to a maximum of a couple minutes.

Elixir Effects

Chill Seeds can also be combined with specific quantities of other seeds to create a PerQuest Elixir with one of the following effects. As usual, the Botanist is able to produce multiple elixirs if her Botanist level is high enough.

Plentiful Water 1 Chill + 1 Compact This bottle can be dumped out to produce enough cool, clean, refreshing water to create a pond or fill a small room, roughly 100 cubic feet (or nearly 3000 liters).
Frigid Acid 1 Chill + 1 Acid This bottle contains a small amount of extremely potent that liquid capable of freezing solid almost any object, even steel. After being directly and carefully exposed to frigid acid for at least five seconds, any object becomes so brittle that it can be broken with a firm punch. A mere sprinkling of frigid acid is extremely painful, but is less potent.
Bottled Blizzard 2 Chill + 2 Gale By uncorking or breaking this bottle, a ferocious blizzard abruptly appear, filling a relatively large area and tearing through it for several minutes. The blizzard is blinding, frigid, and windy, but far from lethal. This is enough to fill most dungeon rooms, or a district of an average-sized town. The user gains no protection from the blizzard, and the blizzard usually centers on the user.
Ice Breath Potion 4 Chill + 4 Breath After drinking this potion, the user is able to magically breathe icy cold after any deep exhalation. This coldness does not harm the user, even if they are reflected. This effect lasts less than a couple minutes.
Freeze Oil 4 Chill + 4 Razor This oil can be applied to one ore more melee weapons, or the tips of an ammunition supply, in advance. On the next impact, the affected weapon will burst with an aura frigid cold, causing an effect similar to an Ice Enchantment. After the first impact, the affected weapon(s) will continue to cause such impacts for a period lasting less than a couple minutes. Unlike magical cold, the cold produced from Freeze Oil can harm the user.
Bottled Ice Beast 4 Chill + 4 Magic Dumping this bottle onto the ground creates a Chilfos. Flying the contents of this bottle into the air spawns four to seven Ice Keese. Regardless of the creature created, it is inclined to follow the others of whoever created it. In less than a couple minutes, the creature(s) will abruptly crumble into harmless water.
