Shadow Dive is a defensive spell. To use it, the caster must first find a shadow equal to or larger than his body, at which point he can dive into the "shadow" as if it was a water-like fluid, placing him in a form of parallel dimension. In this alternate reality, the caster can see his surroundings, but cannot physically interact with them; others can see a faint blur which represents him, but cannot physically interact with him. Upon diving in, the caster must designate a single direction in which he will travel, which cannot be changed after diving. He can travel up to a slow jogging speed (6 mph, or 10 km/h), but can only travel in the direction he chose, not even backwards. He must emerge in another shadow, a process which requires him to physically grab onto the shadow's surface and climb upwards out of it, as if pulling himself up from a cliff's edge. While "submerged," the user must hold his breath, and can never remain submerged for more than 30 seconds. He cannot perform any actions while submerged, other than moving in his chosen direction, or climbing out of another shadow. If for some reason his time runs out before emerging in a shadow, he will be forced back into normal reality where he dove in, with his entire body incredibly sore, disoriented, and gasping loudly for air, leaving him completely vulnerable as he takes time to recuperate. The caster must always wait at least 30 seconds before diving into another shadow.
For the purposes of this spell, no "shadow" exists in the complete absence of light; light must flow against an object so it casts a shadow. A being which can see through illusions, as with a Lens of Truth, can see the caster clearly, even though his disappearance is not an illusion. Any being who is extraordinary able to detect the user, as with Sense, is still able to do so.
The Shadow Dive treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Squishy.
