An Ear of Truth appears as a small earring, loop, or other affixture to be worn on or near the ear, usually colored violet or red. While worn, any sound so loud that it would harm the wearer's hearing is automatically muffled to their ears--still loud, but not painfully so. Any sounds the user would hear that are created by Illusions, such as Ventriloquism, are still heard, but the user can effortlessly detect that they are indeed illusions.
In addition, whenever the user hears a sound, she can mentally designate to muffle or mute that sound in the future as she would hear it--so an obnoxious noise like a pestering voice could be lowered in volume or even entirely ignored. Of course, the user can choose to undo this effect at any time.
Trivia
- An Outfitter can treat a Ear of Truth as a material for the purpose of combining its effects with other materials or treasures into one item of the Headgear field. When determining how many materials the Outfitter can craft into one item, treat this item as though it had a set cost of 10 rupees.
- Just as this treasure thwarts auditory illusions and protects from loud noises, the Lens of Truth can thwart visual illusions and protects from bright flashes.
