Ember Seed
Type Utility Organic Item
Fields Fire, Seed
Cost 3 rupees

An Ember Seed appears as a small fruit, with a color and shape which resembles a flame. This single seed is pure and potent, and as such can be useful as a material to be used by a Botanist. By contrast, an Ember Seed Supply is a collection of less pure seeds which retain the same practical use, but cannot be grown and cultivated by a Botanist. Using just four of these potent seeds, a skilled Botanist can cultivate a Ember Seed Supply.

When one Ember Seed is struck against a hard surface, it bursts open in a fiery spark that can damage those near it. These seeds work effectively as a means of igniting a flammable object or as slingshot ammunition. When used by a Botanist, these seeds are useful for creating an effect related to the Fire field.

Seed Effects

By using three Ember Seeds, along with at least three other seeds, a Botanist is able to create a Seed Supply with one of the following effects. These effects will combine with the effects of other seed types used as materials.

Effect Name Description of Effect
Ember The normal effect of Ember Seeds occurs.
Autocombustion After one seed is eaten, the eater will abruptly burst into flames. This flames are painful, and may kill the eater unless they are extinguished quickly. Creatures who cannot catch flame, such as those wearing a Goron Tunic or protected by Infernal Composition, will feel a sudden hot sensation but will not spontaneously burn.
Fire Punch After one seed is eaten, the next physical contact the eater makes will cause an incinerating impact. Flames will sprout up on the impacted after a punch, kick, headbutt, or step, equivalent to a small campfire. Indirect hits, such as from a sword or projectile, are unaffected.
Hearth As long as one seed is held in the user's palm, they will feel a pleasant warmth radiating from inside their body. This enables the user to survive harshly cold environments, and effectively negates any weakness to cold the user may have.
Scorching Step After one seed is eaten, the eater's footsteps will leave small flames in their wake for so long as the eater continues to walk or run. Scorching Socks have a similar effect.
Volatility This effect can only be combined with another effect that triggers on impact on a short timer--such as most seeds do by default, and as most Bomb Seed effects do, respectively. The paired effect will result in a product which is normally never triggered. After about a minute of advance preparation, however, the normal effect will become extremely volatile, so much that dropping a pebble will cause it to detonate. This enables the effect to be triggered in the form of a landmine, or remote detonation via a string, and the like.

Elixir Effects

Ember Seeds can also be combined with specific quantities of other seeds to create a PerQuest Elixir with one of the following effects. As usual, the Botanist is able to produce multiple elixirs if her Botanist level is high enough.

Elixir Name Seeds Resulting Effect
Slick Oil 1 Ember + 1 Deku When dumped out, the bottle produces up to ten gallons of extremely slick, extremely flammable material of a blackish-brown color.
Fire Baba Fertilizer 1 Ember + 1 Baba This bottled fertilizer can be spread across an area up to thirty feet (or 10 meters) across. Seconds after it is placed, up to three carnivorous plants known as Fire Babas will sprout up, each about as tall as an adult Hylian. They are stationary, but will automatically defend themselves from attacks by spitting small fireballs at anyone who approaches them. An organic creature who nears too close to the Baba is likely to get bitten or swallowed, and the Baba's fiery bite is known to be extremely painful.
Bottled Sunlight 2 Ember + 2 Glow By uncorking or breaking this bottle, a small orange orb pops out and floats high above the user. It emits a bright, whitish-yellow light that fills the area. This light has a strange effect of driving away mist, fog, or smoke. Creatures sensitive to light, such as undead or those with a Dark Affinity, find this light unpleasant will seek to avoid it, but do not take any damage from it. The orb will follow the user for several minutes, after which it will stop moving, and then remain in place for about an hour, before finally transforming into impotent powder.
Fire Breath Potion 4 Ember + 4 Breath After drinking this potion, the user is able to magically breathe fire after any deep exhalation. The flames do not harm the user, even if they are reflected. This effect lasts less than a couple minutes.
Scorch Oil 4 Ember + 4 Razor This oil can be applied to one ore more melee weapons, or the tips of an ammunition supply, in advance. On the next impact, the affected weapon will burst with flames, causing an effect similar to a Fire Enchantment. After the first impact, the affected weapon(s) will continue to cause such impacts for a period lasting less than a couple minutes. Unlike magical flames, the fire produced from Scorch Oil can harm the user.
Bottled Fire Beast 4 Ember + 4 Magic Dumping this bottle onto the ground creates a Hylian-like creature composed entirely of lava, incapable of speaking. Flinging the contents of this bottle into the air spawns four to seven Fire Keese. Regardless of the creature created, it is inclined to follow the others of whoever created it. In less than a couple minutes, the creature(s) will abruptly crumble into ash.
