Undead is a state of being, and a innate racial perk for Poes, Skull Kids, and Stalfos. As such, any member of any such race innately must have this treasure, even if the treasure is undesired.

All undead beings have an inexplicable weakness: all Light-based attacks deal twice the normal damage against them, unless otherwise specified. This weakness can effectively be negated with a Fairy Tunic, or other protective gear crafted from Gratitude Crystals.

Gaining and Losing Undead

Undeath is normally seen as a permanent state, but that is not the truth. It is possible for some beings to dip into undeath and return to life, under very unusual circumstances.

Unless a being is already of an undead race, one typically only becomes undead through a curse, or a botched attempt to revive a corpse back into life. Rarely, this can result from attempting to cast Life or other Healing spells on a fresh corpse. Rarer still, a creature may become a vampire, granting it undead indirectly. Removing one's undead status and returning to life is generally quite an ordeal as well, and is generally considered impossible by mainstream Hylian society.

For beings other than Poes, Skull Kids, and Stalfos, the undead trait can be gained as a treasure for a set cost of 60 rupees. Similarly, any being who has gained the undead trait via means other than race can remove it for a set cost of 40 rupees.
