The Eastern Sea is one of the three major regions considered to be part of the civilized world, alongside Northern Hyrule and Southern Hyrule.

Lake Hylia of Northern Hyrule is the primary water source which feeds into saltwater Hyrule Bay, which splits the two halves of Hyrule. This bay feeds into the Eastern Sea, which stretches across the entire coast of the Hyrule mainland.

Being to the east of mainland Hyrule, the isles of this sea have been effectively untouched by the recent invasion of Ganon. Largely because of this, Hyruleans have more recently begun to explore and settle the distant islands of this new world. Accurate maps of it have yet to even be made. Because sea travel has become so common, your typical adventurer can easily find a sea-going vessel to traverse this region. (A typical boat which traverses water with sails or rowing can be gained for free, but blackpowder-based weaponry such as cannons must still be acquired as treasures.)
