Moon Pearl
Type Defensive Magical Item
Fields Control, Hinox, Protect, Transform
Cost 30 rupees

A Moon Pearl appears as a glistening sphere that can fit in one's palm, and is usually colored blue, red, or violet. Whoever is in possession of a Moon Pearl is protected from some forms of evil magic. The pearl negates any spells or other effects which attempt to:

  • Read the user's thoughts
  • Control the user's mind or body
  • Transform the user's body into a different form

The Moon Pearl's protection is absolute, to the point the user may not even realize he or she was threatened at all by one of these effects. Any of the user's own transformative treasures will still have effect on her own body, however.

This treasure is particularly valued by adventurers seeking to travel to the legendary Dark World or Twilight Realm, as it also protects the user's body from being transformed upon entering these bizarre realms.

As a Hinox Perk

Moon Pearl is an innate racial perk for members of the Hinox race. As such, every Hinox must have a Moon Pearl, even if it is undesired.

As a Hinox originates from the Dark World, it normally cannot function and survive in the Light World of Hyrule. To circumvent this, it must maintain physical ownership of a Moon Pearl at all times. Being a Dark Worlder in the Light World, without protection a Hinox will be transformed into a very weak and almost immobile form, usually a slimy blob not unlike that of a ChuChu, Zol, or Bit. Should a Hinox somehow lose control of its Moon Pearl, it will be reduced to such a form until one can be regained.
