Nightvision
Type Defensive Trait
Fields Sense, Shadow
Cost 40 rupees

Nightvision is a defensive trait, and an exclusive racial perk for several races, namely Deku Scrubs, Mogmas, Subrosians, Twili, Stalfos, and Garo. As such, a member of any of these races can choose to gain it as a perk upon character creation, instead of gaining it as a normal treasure. Since this is an exclusive perk, other races cannot normally acquire it as a treasure.

A Deku Scrub's orange eyes reflect light particularly well. Mogmas and Subrosians have both adapted their eyes to see in underground darkness. Twili come from a realm where darkness is the norm. Finally, Stalfos and Garo both have supernatural eyesight. Because of at least one of these reasons, any being with the Nightvision trait is capable of seeing perfectly well in even the dimmest of light, and being able to faintly see even in absolute darkness.

Trivia

  • By wearing a headpiece crafted with a Filter Lens, a character can effectively gain Nightvision.
  • Although other races can't see in the dark with innate abilities, they can detect other creatures in darkness with Sense, or illuminate darkness with treasures like Spark, Illumination, or Glow Iron.
  • The Nightvision treasure does not appear verbatim within the official Zelda series. However, it can be interpreted to exist from context.
