Golden Aura is a defensive Light spell.
At will, the caster is able to cause a bright flash of powerful Light magic to surround her entire body for about one to three seconds, hovering a few inches above the surface of her skin. There are three primary benefits from this effect.
- Anything which touches the magical light--excluding the caster--is seared with harmful light, a burning and jolting pain. Unless the foe has a weakness to such magic, as undead do, the spell itself causes little lasting damage.
- Generally, the flash of illumination is the more useful portion of the spell. The blindling flash lasts for about a second, making it extremely difficult to look upon the caster and deflect any of her attacks with precision. In darkness, this could even cause an enemy to become momentarily blinded.
- Finally, for long as this aura lasts, it effectively deflects any and all Shadow magic with a physical form directed at the user, such as a Shadow Ball or a weapon enhanced with a Shadow Enchantment.
Because of the strain this spell imposes on one's magic strength, this can normally only be manifested once every 3 minutes. With one level in Magic Power, it can be used once per minute. With two levels in Magic Power, it can be used once every 20 seconds. For the purpose of Golden Aura, anyone with a Specialty in Light is treated as though she has one more level in Magic Power than she actually does.
Trivia
- A foe with the Lens of Truth, or a similar benefit, would be protected from the blinding flash of Golden Aura.
- A foe with a Fairy Tunic, or other gear crafted from Gratitude Crystals, would take significantly less damage from this spell than usual.
- The Golden Aura treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Guy.
