Although Raise Dead is not a true summoning spell, it still benefits from [[Summon Power]], and functions as summoning spells in that a raised creature occupies a "summon level."  You always have at least one summon level.  The number of summon levels you have represents how many summoned (or raised) creatures you can simultaneously maintain.  A creature raised by this spell occupies one summon level, until it dies or is dismissed. Raise Dead is a powerful spell. This is a Major treasure. A character who has never gained a Major treasure may gain this treasure normally. Otherwise, the character must first acquire Major Gain specifically to gain this treasure.

To use this spell, the caster must touch a corpse, and concentrate her magic into it for several consecutive minutes. This corpse must be mostly whole, and must have died in less than 24 hours. The dead body rises as an unthinking automaton, which is considered to now be an Undead being. The raised corpse will be extremely weak to Fire and will have a severe, instinctual fear of natural light and all Light-based treasures. When cast, this spell increases bodily decay drastically, making it virtually impossible to disguise the undead being as a living one. This spell cannot affect any corpse that belonged to an undead being, will never affect the boss monster of a dungeon, and cannot effect other player-characters without their consent.

This undead will follow the caster's verbal commands to the best of its ability. It is unable to feel pain, making it particularly potent for many combatant tasks. However, the being also has reduced reaction time, speed, and dexterity. The being is incapable of using any actions which require sentient thought, as the force which now possesses it is equivalent to a beast acting on instincts and orders. Outside of these limitations, the undead being has all the capabilities of its former self.

As with all mind-controlling spells and effects, casting Raise Dead is considered a crime in Hyrule. Since it desecrates the body of the deceased and completely controls them, it is widely considered the most heinous of Control spells.

Although Raise Dead is not a true summoning spell, it still benefits from Summon Power, and functions as summoning spells in that a raised creature occupies a "summon level." You always have at least one summon level. The number of summon levels you have represents how many summoned (or raised) creatures you can simultaneously maintain. A creature raised by this spell occupies one summon level, until it dies or is dismissed. In this way, the raised creature "fills" one of your summon levels. While your summon levels are completely filled in this way, you cannot summon any more creatures. You can gain more summon levels through the Summon Power treasure.

Trivia

The Raise Dead treasure is an original creation by one of Hyrule Castle's members. Its concept is credited to Ultra5.
