A Kinstone Piece is an unusual sort of treasure. Any one of these pieces will appear as one half of a small coin, made of stone.
The color and symbol of a kinstone piece is randomly determined when the thread is approved. Any given kinstone piece can only fuse with another kinstone piece of the same color and symbol. For example, a Blue Clover Kinstone Kiece can only fuse with another Blue Clover piece. If one character is lucky enough to get two matching pieces himself, he can fuse them in-character at any time. If two different characters each have a matching piece, they need to meet in-character to fuse them. (Fusing kinstones can be done with small posts--an entire quest or dungeon isn't necessary.) Regardless of how the two pieces are fused, a message should be sent to the Kinstone Keeper when the fusion takes place. Fusing Kinstone Pieces will often cause something unusually lucky to happen, such as suddenly finding extra rupees, or gaining a free treasure out of nowhere. The effects of a Kinstone fusion are not always immediate, but are never harmful. Once two Kinstone Pieces are fused, they are effectively used up, and cannot be fused or otherwise used ever again.
Unlike a typical treasure, a character can only gain a limited amount of Kinstone Pieces at a time, despite their low rupee cost. Normally, any character can acquire no more than one of these at a time upon completing a quest, dungeon, or arena battle for a set cost of 2 rupees. More can be acquired by using the Kinstone Collector trait, buying them from Curiosity Shops, or occasionally other methods.
