While Iron Boots appear as simple leather with iron-covered feet, they possess a very unique property. While they are not worn, the boots are not particularly heavy; but when they are placed on the user's feet, their weight increases immensely. The weight seems to vary by the strength of the wearer, as the boots are always just heavy enough that they can barely be lifted from the ground. Walking in them is strenuous, but doable. Jumping or running in the boots is usually impossible.

If the wearer also has a pair of Magnet Boots, he can at will give his Iron Boots the effect of the Magnet Boots.

The user can gain the Summon Boots augment simultaneously with the original treasure for an additional cost, or as a separate treasure at a later time. A wearer with this augment gains a small pocket of interdimensional space, in which he can store his pair of Iron Boots. When stored in this way, the boots have no physical form, and thus weigh nothing. At will, the wearer can summon the Iron Boots onto his feet, replacing any footwear if necessary, causing any replaced footwear to enter the interdimensional space instead. At will, the wearer can return the Iron Boots to the interdimensional space. If the Iron Boots ever leave the wearer's feet (through this augment or other means), any footwear stored in the interdimensional space will immediately be brought back into reality, and appear on the wearer's feet.

Note that the augment only applies to whoever initially dons the Iron Boots. If the Iron Boots are given to another entity, the ability to store them in interdimensional space goes with them.

Trivia

  • The Iron Boots treasure canonically appears in the Zelda series, initially in Ocarina of Time. More information about the canonical version of this treasure can likely be found on Zelda Wiki.
